Johanna Monti is currently Lecturer of Modern Language Teaching at the University of Sassari. She was the Computational Linguistics Research leader of the Thamus Consortium in Salerno (FINMECCANICA Group) from 1988 till 2001 and took part in various national and international research projects (CLIA, EUROLANG, CLIPS). She has been visiting lecturer for Translation Studies at the Foreign Languages and Literatures Faculty of the University of Naples “L’Orientale” since 2002, and of English Linguistics at the University of Salerno. She was research fellow from 2008 till 2012 in Computational Linguistics at the Department of Political, Social and Communication Sciences of the University of Salerno. Her research interests range from linguistics applied to translation; the analysis of the consequences of the use of technology in the translation process, from computational linguistics and in particular the development of linguistic resources to Machine Translation with particular emphasis on multiword-units. Her current research activities in this field concern hybrid approaches to MT.
