The glenoid labrum is a fibrocartilaginous ring that surrounds the periphery of the bony glenoid of the scapula. It serves as an attachment site for the capsule and broadens the base of the glenohumeral joint to allow increased stability.

Desde los trabajos de Turkel (1980) sabemos que la lesión fundamental de la inestabilidad anterior es la lesión del complejo formado por la porción anteroinferior del rodete glenoideo y el LGHI. Esto coincide además con los hallazgos artroscópicos de estos pacientes.

This review presents a concise summary of the embryology, anatomy, microscopy, biomechanical properties and clinical lesions involving the glenoid labrum.
